Our September second Saturday meeting at The Playwright, and this is the first of our autumn meetings.
The Saturday meetings allows time to chat, write, and if you’ve done the fun homework- read it out, or not.
Arrive at 12.30 to get lunch, a drink, and chat with other early arrivals. Then from 1.30 pm the session ramps up with the results of the writing homework (set the previous month). But we’re flexible, so don’t worry if you can’t arrive until later.
There’s always a writing session, and the opportunity to read work out for constructive comment.
If you’d like to try the homework theme, here it is: a short story (between 400 and 800 words). ‘At least next time I won’t have to dismantle the piano’.
We finish around 4 pm, and you’re welcome to stay longer. Or if you need to leave early, that’s okay too.

This is our only meeting this month.
We’ll be a smaller group than usual, but doing the things you enjoy at busier second Saturdays.
And if you arrive early, you’ll have time to buy lunch and a drink, then chat with other writers before the main session begins.

Join us for July second Saturday meeting at The Playwright pub.
All are welcome to our informal and varied afternoon session, where you can meet and chat with friendly, welcoming writers.
The writing challenge for this month is to write a story around 800 words, and combining the themes of the paranormal and artificial intelligence (AI). There’s no compulsion to take part in this aspect, nor read out your story if you do- someone else will be happy to read it out for you.
Arrive early- 12.30 pm- and order your lunch, then spend the hour chatting with others members and visitors.
From 1.30 it’s full ahead with a mix of content suitable for all levels of ability.
Timings are flexible, so arrive and leave at times to fit your circumstances. And we’re close to public transport links- buses, tram, and Nottingham railway station (via the tram from the Royal Centre stop).

We’re now starting the April meeting at the Nottingham Mechanics from 1.00 pm. But don’t panic if you can’t be there at that time.
Between 1 and 2.30 pm, members and visitors can use the meeting room (The Boardroom) informally; talk to your fellow writers, read out work for feedback and discuss ideas.
You might prefer to arrive early and buy lunch in the Mechanics restaurant, before the structured session of writing challenges starts at 2.30, and finishes approximately 4.45 pm. This includes a short break around 3.30.

As it’s Christmas, let’s celebrate. We’ll be chatting, writing, reading, and enjoying being part of the Nottingham writing community.
Come early for lunch- the food is great. Or arrive when you can. Find us in one of the Hideaway events rooms, with tables, chairs and comfy sofas.

Join us for our fourth Friday meeting at the Nottingham Mechanics on the 25th, from 2.30-4.45 pm.
We have our new ten minute get to know you at the start of each session. Manuscript reading and feedback, along with a focus topic.
And as Christmas is moving closer, we’ll have an Xmas related writing exercise.
This is our last Friday meeting of the year, and the dates for our 2023 programme will be added in the New Year.

We’ll be listening to the results of last month’s homework, and any manuscript reading for feedback. There’s always a short writing exercise to keep everyone focused too.
There will be new elements added during the sessions this year, aimed to challenge you.
Arrive early to have lunch- the food is good, and if you can’t finish it all, just ask the bar staff for a box to take it home with you.
You can chat with other writers in a friendly atmosphere.

An opportunity for writers to get together in an informal atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon.
Talk writing, do writing, and go home with a writing challenge to be completed for the next meeting- not compulsory.
Arrive in the first hour and have lunch while you get to know people. You can join in any time during the afternoon, and leave early if you need to.
This meeting is free, but please show your appreciation for the venue providing the space by buying a drink, and/or food- it’s tasty too.
