Leigh Russell

Leigh Russell writes the internationally bestselling series of crime novels featuring Detective Inspector Geraldine Steel. Titles in the series so far are: Cut Short, Road Closed, Dead End, Death Bed, Stop Dead and Fatal Act. Leigh is currently writing the seventh book in the series, which will be published at the end of 2014.

Following the success of the Geraldine Steel series, Leigh is also writing a spin-off series for Geraldine's sergeant, Ian Peterson. Cold Sacrifice and Race to Death have been published, and Leigh is currently writing the third book in this series.

The Miami Examiner describes Geraldine Steel as 'one of the most interesting detectives of all time'. Leigh's books have received glowing reviews in journals as diverse as The Times and Take a Break, as well as praise from fellow crime writers Lee Child, Jeffery Deaver, and Peter James. The books have appeared on many major bestseller lists, including WH Smith, Waterstones, and Amazon, and have reached Number 1 overall on both Kindle and iTunes.

In addition to a busy schedule appearing at festivals and speaking at libraries and universities throughout the UK and overseas, Leigh teaches Creative Writing at the prestigious Writers Lab in Greece and on the Isle of Wight, and for The Society of Authors in London. Keen to encourage new writers, she co-ordinates the Crime Writers Association Manuscript Assessment Service, and receives many invitations to judge writing competitions.

Cut Short was shortlisted for a CWA Dagger Award for Best First Crime Novel in 2010, Dead End was chosen as a Best Fiction Book of the Year by the Miami Examiner, and Best Crime Fiction Book of the Year in Crime.
